Germination station covered with plastic

It is so cold that I decided to cover the germination station and put a small heater inside even though the trays are on heat mats.  It is working well, it stays about 55-60F inside and the heat mats are set to 70F.

Plastic on the greenhouse

Now that the seed sowing is underway it a race against the clock to get my temporary greenhouse ready.  I am converting an old shed into a greenhouse for this year.  It is a 12x12 metal frame that I am just going to cover with 6 mill greenhouse polly.  It will have to do.  Next year I have plans to by a kit and build a much bigger greenhouse.

First Sprout Sighting

I am so excited, if you zoom in add look real close you can see the first OBFF sprout sighting@! Sowing these tinny seeds is so hard and you feel like you are doing nothing. The entire time you keep thinking that there is no way something can come of this but look!  BTW, it was a Black Eyed Susan, Denver Daisy on 2/19/2020. The first sprout Black Eyed Susan, Denver Dasy

Winter Planning

We finished our winter planning session and will be sowing seeds this weekend!   I will post some details soon about which flowers made the cut, pun intended :-)   For now I just want to say, let the chaos begin!

Germination station all wired up

Tonight, I wired up the germination station with heating mats and their thermostats. Also put hoops on the top so that soon I will enclose it in a poly wrap to hold in heat.  The first sowing is planned for 2/17 then it will be off to the races!
